SUMMARY:Unbundling Uncovered Conference 2019 – Substantive Research
DESCRIPTION:Over 350 attendees attending the Substantive Research’s Unbundling Uncovered conference last year for a day of high quality debate and analysis.  Following a hugely successful New York conference\, Mike Carrodus and the Substantive Research team bring the conference back to the Institute of Directors in London for the 5th Unbundling Uncovered event. SUMMARY:Special Members Meeting and ESG Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:What are the opportunities for IRPs to support the growing need for ESG Research? \nEnvironmental\, Social & Governance issues are rapidly becoming mainstream in the investment business; ultimately\, a corporate ESG rating may become as significant as a corporate credit rating. \nThe sourcing\, validating and interpretation of ESG data will be key in the development of sustainable investing. Euro IRP are therefore delighted to be hosting a Special Members Meeting\, with a panel discussion\, to debate questions surrounding ESG\, how it is affecting the industry and what opportunities may arise for IRPs. \nWith many members wanting to learn more\, we hope this special meeting will not only be an opportunity to meet and network\, but also be a forum for debate with\, and insight from\, industry experts. We are aware that some of our members are already working with their clients on ESG research practices and we hope this event will attract the interest of your analysts who might like to attend. We’ll also be inviting some special guests to the event to enrich the debate! \nWe are indebted to Steve Kelly\, CEO\, Euro IRP\, who’ll chair the 4-speaker panel. \nSimon Howard\, Chief Executive\, UKSIF (UK Sustainable Investment and Financial Association)\, since May 2013. Prior to joining UKSIF Simon was a CIO with over 20 years’ experience of the of investment management industry.  In his City career he held the position of Group Chief Investment Officer at Liverpool Victoria\, Head of Investments at Friends Provident and Managing Director at 3i Asset Management. Prior to joining UKSIF\, Simon was Head of Sustainable Financial Markets at the charity Forum for the Future. \nAssheton Carter is a pioneering consultant on business sustainability\, a social entrepreneur and a responsible investment advisor.  For the last 25 years of his career he has been dedicated to creating value through business that benefits both shareholders and society. \nNeil Fatharly is a Senior Consultant at The Wisdom Council\, and has an extensive asset management industry career of over 25 years\, working with leading fund managers such as M&G\, Standard Life and T Rowe Price and global consultancy firms. Neil’s investment distribution industry experience spans both institutional and wholesale sectors in the UK\, Continental Europe and Asia with exposure to ESG and SRI from a product development and client perspective. \nMike Mayhew is founder of Integrity Research\, based in the US\, and is one of the leading experts on the investment research industry.  Mike is an author for ResearchWatch\, Integrity Research’s news feed and has written extensively on the investment industry in the US\, independent research and more recently reporting on changes in investment practice such as the use of ESG sentiment data.

SUMMARY:2019 Members Study Report Launch
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to be hosting an event exclusively for our members to launch our 2019 Members’ Study Report\, presented by Steve Kelly\, at The Brand Exchange on Tuesday 29 October. \nThe primary aim of our study is to capture valuable data about the independent research sector and our membership\, highlighting the key questions and issues they face in their business\, to generate valuable trend data.  At this critical time for our industry it has never been more important for us to ask our members for their feedback. \nWe would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members who have taken part in our survey this year and supported us with this important initiative. \nIf you are yet to take part in the survey there is still time – we are keeping our survey open online to give every one of our members the opportunity to contribute to the 2019 survey.  If you require your unique survey link to be resent please contact Sue Westwood immediately for support. \nAs regulators put research pricing under close scrutiny\,  and with the recent publication of the FCA’s Research Pricing Review last month\, we continue to collect evidence to support our genuine concerns on unfair competition\, and the aggressive practices of the investment banks.  Euro IRP remains the recognised voice of the independent research sector by the regulators\, with the FCA publicly attesting their support for a vibrant\, healthy independent research sector.  Our Euro IRP Members Survey is quickly becoming established as a vital source of information\, especially in light of the regulators wanting more “real” data on the market. \nWe have asked Steve Kelly to prepare a full report\, with analysis of the survey findings\, a copy of which will be available in early November to all our Euro IRP members.  Prior to publication\, our members will have access to key findings from the report during this special presentation and Q&A with Steve Kelly.  A sandwich lunch will be served with welcome refreshments from 12.30pm\, to give members the opportunity to arrive early\, to speak with Steve Kelly and the Euro IRP Executive\, as well as networking opportunities with other Euro IRP members.   Our presentation will start at 1.00pm with time for Q&A. \nWe very much look forward to welcoming our members to this event.

SUMMARY:Euro IRP Announcement - CSFI Publication
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce the new CSFI report on the future for investment research will be published on Monday 23rd October. \nWe have commissioned this third special report – undertaken by an independent body with the stature of CSFI –   to examine the challenges facing IRPs\, the buy-side\, and the sell-side\, under the far-reaching changes adopted under MiFID II.  This new report follows on from the two prior CSFI reports –  “Has Independent Research come of Age?” in 2011 and “Because they’re worth it?” in 2012. \nAs discussed at our AGM\, the imminent onset of MiFID II makes this exactly the right time for this new report\, creating potential to further raise the profile both of independent research and of Euro IRP\, with both the media and the regulators. \nThe report has been authored by Jane Fuller\, former Financial Editor of the Financial Times\, and we are very grateful to Jane for her time to speak to our members\, at a special breakfast briefing\, on Wednesday 18 October in an exclusive preview to the report. \nFollowing the report’s publication\, CSFI will host a Report Launch Event with Panel Discussion on Tuesday 24 October at The London Capital Club.  We look forward to welcoming our members to this special evening\, as well as CSFI members and supporters\, press and media. \nAll members will receive invitations to both these events together with three complimentary copies of the report next week.
